Brian Spector CEO

Brian is co-founder of CertiVox and brings more than 20 years of experience in the information security industry. Brian began his career in cryptographic development at Silicon Valley’s first full disk encryption software company, which later became Guardian Edge and was acquired by Symantec. Brian joined McAfee, where he began his sales career in the anti-virus solutions group. He then moved to RSA Data Security, Inc., successfully forming several major strategic partnerships in the intellectual property licensing division, which included the BSAFE line of cryptographic SDKs that was responsible for the development of several standards.

Following RSA, Brian became the global business development director at nCipher (acquired by Thales in 2006), the most widely deployed hardware cryptographic security platform used by the world’s major financial institutions and governments. Most recently, Brian was General Manager of the content protection product group at Workshare, which included the Workshare Protect line of data leak prevention solutions. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University.


Albert E. Sisto Executive Chairman

Al joined CertiVox as Executive Chairman in March 2010 and brings more than 35 years of experience in the high-tech industry. He is also a Venture Partner with Nauta Capital and a General Partner of Sixth Bridge L. P., where he serves as an investor and business advisor to private companies. Al is currently Chairman of Acctuall, Inc. a SaaS financial services and analytics company and served as Chairman and CEO of Hifn (NASDAQ:HIFN) from November 2006 until its merger with Exar Corporation in April 2009, also serving on the board from 1998 to 2009. Prior to Hifn, Al had a seven year tenure as Chairman, President and CEO of Phoenix Technologies (NASDAQ:PTEC), a provider of PC and Internet platform-enabling software.

Al came to Phoenix from RSA Data Security, Inc., where he served as Chief Operating Officer, beginning in 1997. Prior to RSA, he served as President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DocuMagix, Inc., and has also held executive positions at PixelCraft, Inc, MIPS Technologies, Ingres, Intel and Honeywell. In addition to CertiVox and Acctuall, Al serves on the Board of Directors for Digital Signal Corporation and has served on the public Boards of inSilicon, Insignia, JetFax and Tekgraf. Al earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology.


Gene Myers, VP Engineering

Gene is in charge of driving the software development, quality and innovation projects for CertiVox’s portfolio of solutions. He’s an award-wining programmer and for the last six years has worked at the executive level. His experience envelops the full spectrum of software deployment, from traditional desktop applications and n-tier client-server enterprise installations, to mobile applications and software as a service cloud solutions. He’s managed engineering teams on every continent, and is equally experienced in customer and partner engagement.

Prior to his role at CertiVox, Gene served as director of European Product Development at Expedia.com, and VP of Product Development at Workshare, where he was instrumental in establishing the company’s technical relationship with Microsoft and designing a DRM solution that led to Workshare being awarded the Microsoft World Wide Partner of the Year in 2008. Most recently, Gene founded Datum Logic Ltd., specializing in location-aware applications for the iOS and a removable-device encryption solution – ‘Boomerang’ – that was shortlisted for the Springboard startup incubator program in Cambridge.


Frank Boening, VP of Sales and Marketing

Frank is responsible for Sales, Marketing and all customer-facing activities at CertiVox. His career spans more than two decades of successful customer-centric sales and marketing organization building, including several years at Remedy and Informatica. He has repeatedly built high performance sales models and teams with execution focus. The customer is at the core of every initiative Frank engages in.

Most recently, Frank was responsible for growing revenues by over 300% within 18 months as Vice President of EMEA at Workshare Ltd., during which time the number of customers more than doubled. Frank attended University in England, is based in Germany and lives on a plane.


Ian Peacock, CFO

Ian joined CertiVox as CFO in September 2011. He brings to CertiVox 20 years of experience running finance and operations in the high-tech industry for both UK and US based companies, especially in the software/services and digital media sectors.

Prior to his position at CertiVox, Ian served as CFO for a number of private, venture capital-backed technology companies to help them grow internationally with a special focus on fundraising and mergers and acquisitions.


Dr. Michael Scott, Chief Cryptographer and Director, CertiVox Labs

Dr. Scott joined CertiVox as Chief Cryptographer in November 2011 after the company he founded in 1998, Shamus Software Limited, was acquired by CertiVox. As the creator of the renowned MIRACL (Multiprecision Integer and Rational Arithmetic C/C++ Library) cryptographic library, Dr. Scott’s technology is used by developers in the defense, embedded and mobile systems industries across the world to build highly secure “number-theoretic cryptography” into their hardware and applications. He also serves as the director of CertiVox Laboratories, a Dublin-based center of excellence whose mission will be to promote innovation in the field of elliptic curve and pairing-based cryptography, assist customers in their designs, and further enhance CertiVox’s leading edge in Internet security.

In addition to serving as CEO of Shamus Software, Dr. Scott was Head of the Dublin City University School of Computing. He is recognized in the world of cryptography as a leading authority on the subject of elliptic curve and pairing-based cryptography, and in 2002, published one of the seminal papers on the implementation of pairings, Efficient Algorithms for Pairing-Based Cryptosystems.

Dr. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queens University Belfast and also completed a one year Masters’ degree at Trinity College before gaining a Ph.D. on the topic of Optimal Control Theory from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He has a Google Scholar based H-Index of 24 and has published more than 75 papers in the field.
